Looking for somewhere wonderful to raise your family? According to one study, Wylie is the best choice in America!
Personal finance website NerdWallet has released a ranking of the best small cities for families in the U.S. Wylie, Texas was at the top of the list! According to NerdWallet.com, Wylie was chosen for a variety of reasons. First, the city has easy access to the Dallas metroplex, allowing homeowners to easily commute to jobs within the city proper. However, Wylie is also close to Lavon Lake and Lake Ray Hubbard, giving residents great locations for outdoor activities. Additionally, Wylie has affordable homes with the median home value at $154, 600, paired with a high median annual income growth. Last, Wylie’s schools have earned an average rating of 9 out of 10 by reviewers at GreatSchools.org.
How did they gather their data? First, NerdWallet examined recent data gathered by the U.S. Census Bureau to identify “small cities,” or cities with a population between 25,000 and 100,000. Next, they used several factors to create a ranking system that filtered out the best cities for families. These factors included home values, relative affordability, median annual income, school quality, and crime rate. All of these factors were used to create the “Affordable Index Ratio,” which assigned a number to each city. The lower the number, the better the ranking. Read more about it here.
